“The greatest gift you can give another is the purity of your attention.”
— Richard Moss
Holding space means witnessing someone else’s emotional state without judgement or other interference or projection. In a society where attention spans are shrinking and everyone is multitasking, the ability to listen and be completely present for another human being is easily lost. In October’s Sunday Labs, you’ll use the tools of expressive writing and conscious breathing to explore holding space so that you can turn your pure attention towards others when you want.
In Breath Lab, we’ll focus on practical exercises for cultivating silence, and the ability to concentrate inwardly and outwardly, simultaneously. Taking the time and space to breathe in new ways and shift to body-based attention is a great gift to give yourself.
Breath Lab is preceded by Narra Lab, in which you’ll write about listening and witnessing from all angles, drawing from your memories and current experience. You’ll also learn the technique of expressive writing – a simple and powerful method with scientifically proven benefits for physical and psychological wellbeing.
You can come to one lab or the other, or join us for both.
