Somatic SESSIONS
We often do things with our bodies and minds that we’re not fully aware of: we contract muscles, maintain certain postures, breathe too little, repeat unnecessary movements or sabotaging inner monologues, or focus our attention elsewhere and forget that parts of us exist. Doing this means we lose the freedom to choose how to be in life, and instead act according to something old and automatic—a pattern we learned in the past, perhaps for a good reason, but that we continue long after it has outlived its usefulness.
In individually tailored one-hour sessions, I guide you to bring your attention to your body and approach it as an ally. I teach you to identify and stop what you do unconsciously and automatically that is harming or limiting you.
A somatic process can help you:
• Release or ease painful sensations from injury, operation, accident, illness, or chronic conditions like migraine, back pain, asthma, or digestive disorders
• Stop chronic fatigue and reduce stress and anxiety
• Address the physical imprints of trauma held in the body
• Change habitual ways of reacting to particular people or situations
• Learn to truly relax
• Allow fear, shame, anger, and other intense emotions to move in your body
• Deal with grief, loss, or separation
• See new options for old problems and close chapters from your past
• Regain energy, confidence, and intuition, and unleash your creativity
• Boost your motivation, increase concentration and efficiency, set and reach goals
But you don’t have to have a specific goal in advance. You may simply want to increase your physical awareness, or maybe you’re just curious. In any case, the learning happens with and through your body, while focusing your mind on what’s happening in the moment. It’s practical, physical, challenging, and revitalizing.
Online and in-person
All of this is possible through online sessions as well as in-person work—grounded, pragmatic, and based on your specific needs, history, and learning preferences. I first began offering online sessions during the Covid pandemic, and I continue because they consistently bring powerful results. Clients are often surprised by the depth of experience possible—and grateful they can access this work from anywhere in the world.
